When I was a little boy I had a healthy fear of the tangled darkness within Toronto’s ravines and forests. As a teenager, I once found myself lost for hours in the late evening darkness of a forest in Haliburton. When the children were younger we would take them hiking in the York Regional Forests north of the city. My life long fascination of forests continues today while I comfortably walk the asphalt of nearby conservation areas and parks. The tangled darkness is still there!
